Gavin Buys is the Chairman of the board/exco for a non-profit organisation called KZN Care Association in Durban, which is home to 350 predominately elderly folk, most of whom have age-related conditions affecting their physical and/or mental wellbeing.
They are also home to 40 children and young adults severely affected by cerebral palsy who have been placed in their care by the State. Many of the residents require 24-hour medical support or care. They are a registered Non Profit and Public Benefit Organization that provides accommodation and holistic health care services to vulnerable persons.
Many of the resident’s fall into the low socio-economic group and are solely reliant on their Government grants which only partially covers their costs of being accommodated at the KZN Care Association.
